The verdict in the Bangabandhu Murder Case was well covered in several reputed US dailies including the New York Times. The Wall Street Journal and The Financial Times, according to a message received in the city yesterday, reports BSS

The Financial Times headlined the report on verdict Death sentences for Mujib killing It used portrait oT Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana, the only two surviving daughters of the late leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The report said opposition leaders in Bangladesh are unlikely to dispute the verdict given the near legendary status of Sheikh Mujib. whose death plunged the country into a long period of military and autocratic rule, political killings and coups.

The New York Times published the story with the headline 15 face firing souad for assassinating Bangladesh leader in '75'. The story mentioned that thousands of followers of “Sheikh Mujib danced outside the court to celebrate the verdict shouting, "justice prevailed ".

The Washington Times In a story published on Monday said Bangladesh people welcomed the death sentence to J 5 former military commanders in the 1975 assassination of the countiy's first Prime Minister Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman marking a rare instance of the nation resolving a violent episode in its past through the orderly exercise of Justice. The paper also published a story on the death sentences to 15 military commanders in connection with the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib.

Meanwhile, another report from New York said the day of verdict was a happy occasion for Bangladesh community living there. They welcomed the verdict of the Bangabandhu Murder Case.

Two local Bangla weekly Probashi and Bangladesh’ published one page special bulletin on the occasion, while another weekly 'Bangla Patrika' Kublished their usual edition on londay instead of Sunday to accommodate the verdict story, the report added.
