9,98,194 flood victims get relief

KISHOREGANJ. Oct 9: District administration distributed a total of Taka 10.05.000 cash money. 1,229 metric tonnes rice. 1.000 pieces sarees. 700 pieces lungies, 200 pieces of old clothes. 200 pieces towells. 200 pieces matches. 150 cartoon biscuits and 32.1000 special VGF cards among the flood-affected people of 13 thanas of the district till September 27, reports BSS.

According to a district relief disaster management and rehabilitation officials source, the relief was distributed among 9.98,194 flood-affected people of 107 unions and three pourasavas of the district. The flood-affected thanas are: Kishoreganj sadar. KarimganJ, Pakundia, Hossainpur, Tarail. Itna, Austogramm. Mithamon, Bhairab. Kuliarchar. Nikli, Ba-jitpur and Katiadi. The pourashavas are Bhairab, Bajitpur and Kishoreganj sadar.

Road rehabilitation programme taken up

KISHOREGANJ, Oct 9: Some 80 kilometer roads and 13 bridges and culverts have been damaged by the recent devastating floods in the district, reports APB.

Movement of all sorts of vehicles is being hampered as many potholes have developed on the roads causing inconvenience to passengers. The Roads and Highways Department (R&HD) have begun repair works of the damaged roads under a rehabilitation project.

Relief distributed among 485 families

CHUADANGA. Oct 9: The Chuadanga district office of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) distributed relief materials among flood affected 485 families of two thanas of the district in co-operation with the thana administration. local UP chairmen and local people, reports BSS.

The distributed relief materials included 1.450 kgs rice. 60 kgs chira. 25 kgs gur. 800 packets saline and cash Taka 1.000. Of the total relief materials 1.150 kgs rice, 800 packets saline and cash Taka 750 were distributed among 385 worst flood affected families of Hard! union in Alamdanga thana while the resi 350 kgs rice. 60 kgs chira. 25 kgs gur and 250Taka were distributed among the 100 Hood victim families of Damurhuda thana.

Goods, cash worth Tk 2 lakh looted

SIRAJGANJ. Oct 9: Robbers looted goods and cash worth about Tk two lakh from the passengers of two rickshaw vans at Ainbaria in Belkuchi thana on Sunday, reports APB.

Police said a gang of 10-12 armed dacoits swooped on the rickshaw vans on Sirajganj-Belkuchi road early Sunday, snatched away cotton worth Tk two lakh and cash Tk 1.000 from two traders and fled the scene. The robbers also beat up Iwo of the passengers during the incident.
