KHAGRACHHARl. Oct 9: At least 35 people were injured in a violent clasn between the activists of ruling Awami League and opposition BNP at Ramgarh thana headquarters. Tuesday night, reports APB.

Two of the injured, police said, received bullet injuries and were undergoing treatment at Chittagong and Feni hospitals. One of them. Kamal Uddin Ahmed of BNP, was said to be in critical condition.

Police'arrested some 18 BNP leaders and workers, including thana BNP president and UP chairman Belayet Hossain Bhuiyan.

Witnesses said the clash erupted when two local Jubo Dal leaders — Daudul Islam and Badsha Mia — attacked Yasin, local Jubo League president, at his office Tuesday evening.

The two groups locked in the clash and damaged a dozen shops. Local press club. Awami League office and Buddhist temple also came under attack during the rampage.

Meanwhile, sources said, there had been an exchange of fire wilh police when they went to arrest some accused this morning;

Police and BDR patrols were reinforced in the town. Three separate cases were filed with police.
