Needing to avoid defeat to add the title to the NatWest Trophy secured by their victory over Derbyshire at Lord's on Sunday, Lancashire restricted Hampshire to 186-7 In reply to their 202.

Andrew Flintoffs quickfire 69 off 58 balls, including three sixes and six fours, propelled Lancashire to their total after they lost three early wickets.

Flintoff shared In a 1 IO-run partnership in 16 overs with Graham Lloyd before his dismissal sparked a collapse with Lancashire losing their last seven wickets for 42 runs In 18 overs.

Hampshire began badly and lost openers John Stephenson and Giles White to leave them struggling on 53-2 after 17 overs.

Robin Smith and Will Kendall added 96 in 17 overs to put them on course to overhaul Lancashire's total until Glen Chapple and Peter Martin struck to virtually end their resistance.
