KISHOREGANJ. Aug 7: Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Zillur Rahman today said the government has taken up necessary steps for implementation of a massive post-flood rehabilitation programme to help the flood affected people of the country, reports BSS.

He was addressing a public rally at Kuliarchar thana under the district while distributing relief goods among the flood stricken people there, an official handout said.

The relief work was conducted on behalf of Bangladesh Awami League which distributed rice, pulse, cash money, saline, dry food, water fiurifying tablets and other re-ief goods among the flood victims.

The LGRD and Cooperatives Minister said the government had already earmarked an amount of Taka 12 crore for agricultural rehabilitation as soon as flood water recedes from the affected areas. A special housing rehabilitation programme will also be undertaken for the families affected by river erosion during the flood, he said.

Besides, the minister said, the government has decided to expand the vulnerable group

feeding (VGF) programme among the poor people after the flood.

The minister said some quarters were now out to spread untrue statements to confuse the people despite the government’s sincere and proper relief activities among the flood stricken people in the country.

He called upon the opposition parties not to do politics with the lot of the flood affected people of the country.
