CHITTAGONG. Aug 7: The third meeting of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord Im-Elementation Committee was eld at the Chittagong Circuit House today.

The meeting discussed various issues relating to Implementation of the peace accord but did not take any decision, meeting sources said.

The meeting, presided over by convenor of the committee and Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Abul Hasnat Abdullah, was attended by among other members president of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samlty (PCJSS) Jotirindra Bodiprlya Larma alias Shantu Larma, Minister for Hill Tracts Affairs Kalpa Ranjan Chakma. Secretary of the Special Affairs Division Kazi Golam Rahman and Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Shak-wat Hossain ware also present at the meeting that continued from 9:30 am to 4:15 pm with a break for three hours.

Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Chief Whip Abdullah said that the meeting was fruitful and held in a cordial atmosphere.

The meeting discussed those points only which were not yet implemented. Abdullah said and left the place hurriedly.

When newsmen following him asked a question, he replied "The interim regional council will be formed soon."

He claimed that the difference of opinion between the ,PCJSSover nomination of non-tribal members In the interim re-gonal council was sorted out.

ut he declined to elaborate.

Later, talking to newsmen PCJSS Chairman Shantu Larma said that nothing was discussed in today's meeting about formation of the interim regional council. A list of 22 nominees of the interim regional council was submitted to the government earlier but no reply was given to him so far In this regarcT he said.

"Today we exchanged views only on withdrawal of army camps from the CHT in phases as per the peace accord and other issues including rehabilitation of tribal refugees.’’ Larma said.

When asked whether there was any dilly-dallying in implementation of the peace accord. Larma said, "Yes. there is delay. Seven months have already passed since the signing of the accord. "

He alleged that the "Jumma people" in CHT were feeling insecure due to delay in implementation of the peace accord fully.

Larma said "there will be no peace and prosperity in CHT till full implementation of peace accord".

The peace accord envisaged a powerful regional council to coordinate the activities of the three hill district councils in Rangamati. Khagrachhari and Band ar ban.

Parliament already endorsed a bill relating to the regional council.

An official handout later said the meeting expressed satisfaction over the formation of the CHT Affairs Ministry, employment of most of the PCJSS members who returned to normal life, reinstatement in services and other steps of the government as per the peace accord.
