KARACHI. July 7: Former captain Wasim Akram said on Monday he was not Interested In leading Pakistan's cricket team following reports he was being considered for the Job he lost In December over match-fixing allegations.

"I have liad my stint and enjoyed it to the hilt and now I want someone else to take the gauntlet and I am ready to guide film until I quit," Akram told AFP.

Akram, 32. was dropped from captaincy over match-fixing and betting allegations following the national team's poor performance at Shaijah in a four-nation tournament in December.

But he was allowed to play for Pakistan last February in South Africa after the cricket authorities cleared him. pending the completion of an ongoing probe by a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) committee.

Hie all-rounder's comments came as a meeting of the PCB council on Sunday postponed announcement of a captain and coach.

The probe committee is expected to present a preliminary report this month.

"My conscience is clear and that is why I am taking on my accusers. I have suffered a lot. but now I feel enough Is enough." Akram said.

He said the cricket board would have to play its part to clear Pakistan cricket's image.

"I felt that the board seemed to have enjoyed seeing players humiliated by the press and the public but now with Chairman Khalid Mahmood at the helm I hope things will improve." he said.

Akram is with English county Lancashire, for whom he has been playing since 1988. He was to leave here for London late today.

"I want to see Lancashire win the county championship and If they remain in contention 1 may have to miss Sahara Cup in Canada in September." he said.
