State Minister for Youth and Sports and Cultural Affairs Ooaidul Quader told the House that the government would construct a Shaheed Minar and monumental pillar in each thana and district level in phases to preserve the memories of the War of Liberation and the Language Movement as well, reports BSS

Replying to a private member resolution from Mustaflzur Rahman Fizu (AL-DinaJpur), the state minister also said that the government would try to help complete the half-done Shaheed Minars in different places through government grants.

Agenda of a private members day. suspended during budget discussion, was shifted yesterday on special consideration.

Quader said that he would make efforts to build the new Shaheed Minars as proposed by parliament members through making provisions in the revised budget.

Earlier. Mustaflzur Rahman _ Fizu moved a private resolution ' urging the government to construct a Shaheed Minar in Birampur thana m^adquarters under Dinajpur district

He. however, withdrew his proposal after assurance from the State Minister to construct Shaheed Minar in each thana

and district level.

A total of four Treasury Bench members and five opposition BNP members move amendments on the resolution demanding construction of Shaheed Minar in each of their respective constituencies.

Those who moved amendments were Jalaluddin Taluk-der. Abdul Latif Mirza, Wazih Uddin Khan and Ramesh Chandra Sen of the Treasury Bench and Shamsul Alam Pramanik. Shahidul Islam. Gazi Mohammad Shahjahan, Fazlul Azim and Ehsanu] Huq Milon of Opposition BNP.

The state minister urged those who proposed and moved amendments to come to him with their proposals in this regard.

Quader also questioned why the Shaheed Minars had not been constructed as yet in thana, district and divisional levels. He also criticised those who were now shading crocodiles tears demanding construction of Shaheed Minars.
