The actions of Shahid, confessed killer of Shazneen, have bewildered his family members — father, mother, three sisters and a seven-year-old brother at their village home at Bhangadurgapur. in Gopalganj.

"I nave disinherited my son. He is a total disgrace to the family. We never thought Shahid could do it." Siddiq Mollah told CID with tears in his eyes. "Let him die We don’t want to know what will happen to him," the 45-year old father wailed.

It took about eight hours for the CID inspector and his team to reach Shahid's village home, about 60 km from Gopalganj town.

Siddiq Mollah is a day labourer. His wife Bhanu, a member of a village women development group, is raising a small poultry farm at their house. CID sources said.

Siddiq told CID Shahid read upto class two at their village school. Second among three daughters and two sons of Siddiq Mollah. Shahid first came to Dhaka at the age of eight as a do*B«»tjc help.at aa engineer's house.

Shahid worked at the engineer's house for about three Sears and returned to hangadurgapur. After about an year, he came to Dhaka again and worked in some other houses in the city.

Lastly. Shahid's cousin Hemayet took him to Latifur Rahman’s house about one and half years ago.

Siddiq told CID that Shahid said a lot about Rahman's house. He said he was happy with his job and also the behaviour of members of Rahman's family.

Shahid went home on April 14 and gave Tk 2,000 to his family. He also bought some corrugated tin and wood to renovate their house. He left home for Dhaka a few days later.
