NARSINGDI. May 4: Narsingdi Pourashaua is beset with manifold problems Including shortage of accommodation, bad roads, lack of drainage system and unhygienic atmosphere causing untold sufferings to the dwellers, reports UNB.

Narsingdi thana was up graded to a sub-division in 1977 and then to a district in 1984. But instead of its upgradation twice in seven years the civic amenities could not be increased comparatively.

Dwellers here have been deprived of housing facilities as the House Building Finance Corporation has stopped pro-

viding loan since the last few years.

Deplorable condition of roads in the town is creating problems to the people. Breaches and potholes have developed at many points of the roads causing frequent accidents.

Besides, traffic jam is a regular feature here as the roads are too narrow. An important portion of the main road went under illegal occupants.

Rising number of rickshaws have Increased the problems of pedestrians. Rickshaw pullers do not abide by the rules on the streets.

Meanwhile, the number of drug addicted people is rising here day by day. Different drugs are being sold in the town openly giving rise to anti-social activities.

There is no proper drainage system in the town. Most of the times, the drains are overflowed. Garbage are dumped on the road sides turning the town into safe breeding centre of mosquito. Moreover there is no public toilet in the pourashaua.

Besides, stale foods are being sold in hotels and restaurants at random and, many customers are suffering from various intestinal diseases.
