Two rival groups exchanged gunshots and exploded a number of crackers leaving a rick-shawvan-puller Injured at city’s Shantinagar area last night.

The wounded was identified as Abdul Khaled. He was admitted at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Besides, police arrested 16 people from the spot just after the incident.

Police said the clash erupted following announcement of the result of an election of Shantinagar Bazar Committee, held last month. The clash erupted between Nur Hossain and Abul Ali groups at about 8:30 pm.

Supporters of both the groups traded at least five rounds of gunshots and exploded bombs for about half-an-hour.

MoUjheel thana was preparing to file two separate cases In connection with the incident till filing of this report late last night.
