Where is the ship waiting to unload salt at the Chittagong port?

When contacted by The Daily Star yesterday, neither the TCB Chairman nor the Commerce Secretary could say anything about the whereabouts of the ship.

Quoting TCB sources, a PID handout had said on Sunday. "A consignment of salt has already reached the (Chittagong) port ". It had also said that the TCB had already taken steps to import a huge quantity of salt to increase the stock.

"I do not know anything about the ship." Hiralal Bala. Chairman of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh said. When asked what was the name of the ship and how many tonnes of salt ft was carrying, he said he was quite unaware of that.

Commerce Secretary Alam-gir Farrouk Chowdhury when contacted said he did not know the name of the ship and how much salt it was carrying.

When contacted, a duty officer at the newsroom of the Press and Information Department (PID) yesterday said that he did not know details of the matter.
