Alleged irregularities in health complex

SYLHET. Dec 31: Jaintapur Thana Health Complex Is beset with manifold problems including irregularities and negligence of the doctors and lack of medicines, reports UNB.

The patients alleged that they do not get necessary treatment from the doctors as they are busy with their private clinics in the working hours. The patients do not get necessary medicines except paracetamol and histacin tablets in the health complex. So they have to purchase medicines from outside at a high price. There is no X-ray machine though there is an ECG machine without any operator. The only ambulance of the health complex remained out of order for long. For this, the serious patients who needed to rush to the Sadar Hospital have to face problems. The environment of the health complex is unhygienic causing health hazards to the patients.

Law to be enacted for UZ system

BHAIRAB. Dec 31: LG RD and Cooperatives Minister Zillur Rahman has said that the representations of women in all spheres of local government administration would be ensured through people's direct votes, reports BSS.

He said there would also be a provision for women's representation through direct election in the gram parisad and Up-azila parishad like reserved seats for the women in union parishads. The minister said the election of the gram parishad would be held in February next. He said works are under process for introducing upazilla (UZ) system through enacting a law in the coming parliament session.

Drugs worth Tk 2 lakh destroyed

KUSHTIA. Dec 31: Narcotics and Drug Control Department destroyed varieties of drugs valued at about Taka two lakh on Tuesday last, reports BSS.

The drugs included 1200 bottles of phensidyl, dry ganja. 172 bottles, of Indian wine and six bottles of foreign liquor. These drugs were destroyed in presence of magistrate Abul Mansur. Customs Superintendent Zahangir Hossain, 1st rifle battalian Subeder Delwar Hossain and assistant director of Narcotics Badul Jail.
