Mannan claimed that permission was taken from PWD for holding the mela. But the PWD cancelled the permission after police dismantled the podium. Mannan condemned the alleged police action.

"In the face of widespread protests and plans for agitation against the heinous act, the government has given permission again for holding the mela. Mannan said.

He said that he contacted Telecommunications and Housing Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday. Nasim managed the fresh permission.
