Post and Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday handed over the list of political cases against BNP lawmakers, leaders and workers to Home Minister Rafiqul Islam at the latter's office.

Nasim, a key negotiator of the ruling Awami League, had also telephonic conversation with BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan yesterday informing the latter about the progress in this regard.

A fresh list of political cases' was earlier sent to Nasim by BNP on Sunday. The list included cases against 19 BNP legislators. 52 other cases and 20 Seneral diaries lodged with 13 lanas in the city against the party leaders and workers in recent past.

The Home Minister told newsmen at the parliament lobby yesterday that he received the list from Nasim and expected a report on the merit of the cases mentioned in the list within the next two or three days.

"I am expecting the report by November 12. After Judging the merit of the cases, if any case is found worthy of withdrawal, definitely we will consider.~ said Nasim, while talking to this correspondent last night.

According to sources, the Home Secretary and the Inspector General of Police were also present when Nasim handed over the list to the Home Minister.

Nasim told this correspondent that during his telephonic talks with Mannan Bhuiyan yesterday. "I gave assurance of cooperation, no matter what the issue Is — parliamentary standing committees or the impartial BTV coverage of the parliament proceedings."

The BNP secretary general, however, could not be contacted over telephone till late last night.
