The Asia Pacific Youth Gathering (APYG) '97 was held at Rudrapur In Dinajpur district from October 23 to 29. says a press release.

About 50 participants from the Aslan countries namely Bangladesh. Myanmar. Cambodia. Indonesia. India. Nepal. Philippines. Sri Lanka and Thailand represented their people. Youth from USA and Germany also join the peace gathering, a follow-up of a peace youth gathering in Sweden or-faniaed by International Fel-owship of Reconciliation (IFOR). The gathering was Jointly organised by ANANDO. Bangla-German Sampreeti (BGS) and D1PSHIKHA. The main themes of the workshop were on peace education, reconciliation and on the Involvement of youth for non-violence In the families, educational Institutions an in labour situations.

The resource persons were Prof Kabir Chowdhury. Ahmad Tajul Islam. Director NGO Affairs Bureau. Maleka Khanom representing the women and Paul C Tlgga of Dipshlkha. Advisor of both organising NGOs Klaus Beurle. Mathew George, member of IFOR Steering Committee and Mofakharul Islam. ExecuUve Director of BGS and Jarlath from BICPAJ also took part.
