Business week at the Dhaka Stock Exchange ended on bearish mood as the composite index registered a 16.69-point slide on higher volume.

The benchmark price index declined to 964.17 points from 980.86 points.

The market capitalisation of the bourse fell by Tk 142.52 crore to Tk 8233.13 crore from Tk 8375.65 crore.

Trading in terms of volume appreciated by ten per cent and two per cent in terms of value.

As many as 6.37 lakh shares and debentures worth Tk 10.02 crore changed hands as against previous day’s 5.81 lakh snares and debentures valued at Tk 9.83 crore.

Losers outnumbered the gainers by 109 to 27 while prices of two issues remained unchanged among 138 issues traded.

Monno Jutex was the top performer with a rise of Tk 228.50 per share ^vhlle Singer Bangladesh suffered the maximum loss of Tk 190.94 per

share.

Beximco Knitting Ltd'(Deb). BCIC and Monno Jute Stafflers were also significant gainers. First ICB MF. United Leasing Company, Bangladesh Lamps. BD Zipper Industries (Deb), Monno Ceramics and Wata Chemical were also among losers of the day.

Volume leaders were: Rose Haven Ball Pen (115000), Beximco Pharma (113575), Quasem Drycells (47650), ACI Ltd (28850). Chic Tex (28500). Eagle Star Textile (22800), Shine Pukur Holdings (16500) and Ashraf Textile (16000).
