State Minister for Planning. Civil Aviation and Tourism. Dr Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir. has emphasised on exploring new possibilities for filling up the much needed capacity requirement for transportation of export cargo by air. a Biman press release said here Wednesday, reports BSS.

He was addressing as the chief guest at the formal inaugural ceremony of Biman-Korean Air joint freighter service at Biman Cargo Complex Wednesday.

Secretary. Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. Mohammad Ismail Hosain. attended the ceremony as special guest.

Managing Director, Biman Air Commodore M Rafiaul Islam, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Tae Kyu Han. Regional Director and Vice-President of Korean Air Si Jong Yum, Deputy Managing Director, Bima M Zainul Abedin. Chairman. Civil Aviation Authority. Bangladesh, Air Commodore Manzur Alam, among others, were present.

Dr Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir expressed his satisfaction over the joint collaboration between Biman and Korean Air in the cargo sector and hoped that this venture would help both the carriers to further expand its field of cooperation.

Referring to the healthy contribution of export cargo to the national economy, the state minister said that safe and timely despatch of the ex-Krtable could only be ensured

In the seven charter flights

that have been operated since August 19 this year, both Biman and Korean Air have carried ' 277.60 tons of outgoing cargo utilising 100 per cent capacity offered while the incoming load on the same flights nave brought in 159.50 tons of cargo.

Later, the state minister alongwith other quests visited the Korean Air aircraft and formally inaugurated the service.
