BARGUNA. Sept 8: Some 200 non-government secondary schools in the district are beset with manifold problems hampering education of about 50,000 students, reports UNB.

Local people said deplorable condition of school buildings, shortage of furniture, science laboratory, library, play ground, common room and accommodation facilities are hindering smooth education in these schools situated in the five thanas.

Classes are being held in some schools with utmost risk as the decaying school buildings may collapse any time

During the rainy season, water leaks through the roof of the

buildings Only 10 per cent schools nave one or two storied buildings while others are housed in semi-pucca tln-sheds

These schools are facing difficulties to accommodate the increasing number of students. About 70 per cent of these schools have neither science laboratory nor necessary equipment.

Students are also deprived of sports facilities as 25 per cent schools have no playground.

Scarcity of drinking water has been persisting In most of the schools due to non-avail-ablllty of requisite number of tubewells and as a result the students have to drink pond water.
