The Home Ministry yesterday endorsed a petition from Criminal Investigation Department for remanding Rezvi in spite of a preemptive 30-day detention he has been given, reports UNB.

"We. in this regard, submitted an application to the Home Ministry today and it was approved," said Additional SP of CID Subodh Chandra Chanda, who is supervising the investigation.

He also said now there is no legal barrier to bringing Rezvi Ahmed, one of the self-confessed accomplices in "killing filmstar Salman Shah", on remand by CID.

"He will be taken on court-approved two-day remand shortly and interrogated in presence of a magistrate. said Subodh. He would not elaborate.

The CID Investigators came to know about the 30-day detention when a team went to Dhaka Central Jail on Wednesday to bring him on remand.

On the day they could not bring him as there is no provision for sending any prisoner to police custody on remand if he is awarded detention. For this an approval from the Home Ministry was a must.

However, it could not be known why Dhaka Metropolitan Police had sought detention for Rezvi when CID. asked by police headquarters, was Investigating the death "mystery” of Salman.

tional cricket team captain Shafiqul Haq Hira met the CID investigators yesterday, the Investigator said.

"Hlra could not contact the two servants of Salman’s Eska-ton house - Monwara and Abul -- and for this also could not bring them. He. however, gave their addresses." the CID official said.
