JAKARTA. Aug 7: The National Commission on Human Rights plans to question the Indonesian government over its handling of riots in Jakarta In Jyly 1996. reports said today.

■*** CommlMten Vice ChairmM* Marzuki Darusman said it was 'logical" to take up the Jakarta riots with the government as "there seems to be different views within the government about the commission's recommendation".

The Kompas Daily quoted Darusman as saying the commission will discuss the riots in a meeting with coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Susilo Sudarman on August 20.

Sudarman said last week the case of the July 27 riots was already closed. And the government had already followed up on the riots and the findings of the commission's report.
