BAR1SAL. July 6: About one hundred development projects are being implemented in six southern districts under Barisal division during this financial year.

Works of these projects in Barisal. Patuakhali. Barguna, Bhola, Jhalakati and Pirojpur districts are nearing completion.

These projects are being implemented with an expenditure of Tk 43.60 crore under Roads and Highways (R&H) Department of Barisal circle.

Official sources said that these projects included construction and repair of roads, highways and feeder roads covering over 1.850 kilometre in six districts under Barisal circle.

The break-up of these projects are in Barisal and Jhalakati districts 28 projects

while 22 projects in Patuakhali 30 projects in Pirojpur and 21 projects in Bhola district.

Roads and Highways Department has also been constructing 4 bridges in three districts unth an expenditure of Tk. 23.5 crore during this financial year. With the implementation of these projects the local Infrastructure and communication systems in the division will be developed, informed sources said.

Meanwhile, lakhs of people of this division are demanding the construction of a bridge at Doarika-Shlkarpur on Barisal-Farldpur highway as early as possible. Prime Minister Sheikh Haslna recently assured the local leaders of Barisal that a bridge at Doarika-Shlkarpur would be constructed as early as possible.
