Houses to be built for cyclone victims
COMPANIGANJ. July 6: A district relief and rehabilitation co-ordination meeting was held recently at CompaniganJ Thana Council here with State Minister for Youth and Sports and Cultural Affairs Obaidul Quader in the chair, reports BSS.
The meeting attended by local district level officials. Union Parisad (UP) chairmen and politicians decided to construct dwellings for 150 cyclone affected families at the cost of Taka 12 lakh. Later the minister also held a meeting attended by government officials and people's representatives at CompaniganJ Thana Council.
Law, order situation reviewed

Massive aus farming scheme
NETRAKONA. July 6: Netrakona district agriculture extension department has taken up a massive aus crop cultivation programme in all thanas under Netrakona district in the current season, reports BSS.
An official source said here that under the programme, a total of 34.000 hectares of land have been brought under aus cultivation in 10 thanas of the district. Of the total land, around 16.000 hectares have been brought under High Yielding Variety (HYV) of the crop and around 18,000 hectares under local variety of the crop.
2 killed in road mishaps
MYMENSINGH. July 6 : Two people were killed and 15 others injured In separate road mishaps in the district recently, reports UNB.
Police said Jasimuddin. 65. was killed when a microbus hit his bicycle at Katney in Fulpur thana on Mymensingh-Halu-aghat highway. He succumbed to his injuries soon after admission to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH). In another incident at Shikarikanda on Mymensingh-Dhaka highway, one person was killed and injured when a Mymensingh-bound minibus overturned while giving passage to another one at about 12:30pm.
Training course on coop leadership
MANIKGANJ. July 6: A four-day long training course on "cooperative leadership and management development" concluded in the auditorium of Shivalaya TCCA recently, reports BSS.
The training course, organised by the Mobile Training Unit of district cooperative department, was participated by 50 members of Tepra Traders Multipurpose Cooperative Society. Dashchira Ansar-VDP Development Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Teprabazar Multipurpose Cooperative Society and Gobindabari Agriculture Cooperative Society under Shivalaya thana.
391 uplift projects completed in Pirojpur
PIROJPUR. July 6: Work on 391 schemes under the rural infrastructure maintenance programme in the district have been completed on the current fiscal year, reports UNB.
A total of 898 metric tons of wheat have been utilised for the schemes implemented by Relief and Rehabilitation department. Of the total. 62 schemes have been completed in Bhandaria. 41 in Kaukhali. 94 In Mathbaria, four in Pirojpur paurasava. 62 in Nazirpur. 63 in Nesarabad. 62 in Sadar thana and three in Mathbaria paurasava.

Housewife commits suicide
JAMALPUR. July 6 : A housewife allegedly committed suicide by taking poison in Kendua thana of sadar thana of the district on Saturday, reports UNB.
The victim was identified as Anima Saha. 26. wife of Swapon Kumar Saha. Her husband is now absconding following her death. Relatives said that family feud might be the cause behind her suicide. Police said Anima was rushed to the sadar hospital at dawn where she died at around 8 am.
Valuables worth TV 3 lakh looted
CHITTAGONG. July 6 : An unidentified autorickshaw passenger was injured and valuables worth about Tk 3.84 lakh were looted from two houses at a village in Rauzan thana in an armed robbery Friday night, reports UNB.
Police said a group 0120-25 armed muggers in mask entered the houses of Fazal Ahmed and Mohammad Ilias at Noapara village In the thana at around 10 pm. The hoodlums tied up the inmates of the houses with ropes decamped with the booties, including gold ornaments, electronics goods and some cash worth about Tk 3.84 lakh. Inmates. Motor cycle recovered: 2 held
RAJSHAHI. July 6: Police arrested two alleged muggers and recovered one motor cycle from their hideout in Pabna on Thursday night, reports BSS.
