The veterans of the black and whites set the pattern of a one-way traffic for the youngers as Mohammedans won both the exhibition football matches against their arch-rivals Aba-hani Krira Chakra at Dhaka Stadium yesterday.

The friendly affairs between the two crowd-pullers in the domestic circuit, which attracted nearly 15.000 fans, turned out as a successful day for Mohammedans when their veterans recorded a 2-0 win over their Abahani counterparts in the first match of the day. Imtiaz Sultan Jhonny, the current manager of the Mohammedan Sporting Club and a former midfielder, gave the Motijheel outfit a 15th minute lead before Joshi, whose career came to a premature end following a knee injury, doubled the margin midway through the second half.

Buoyed by the early success of their predecessors, the current selection of Mohammedans came from behind to score a stunning 4-1 win against their perennial foes in the flood-lit second match.

After a barren first half, striker Mizan enabled Abahani a 56th minute lead with a scorching 25-yarder past a bemused Mohammedan custodian Ponir. But the cheers at the sky blue tent died down soon as Mohammedans bounced back with four goals.

Midfielder Manik switched on the barrage of goals just ten minutes after they fell behind by shooting home fror a goalmouth melee. One mi- tte later an air-borne Naquib wade it 2-1 with a spectacular header.

Ranjan added the third in the 72nd minute before Alfaz sealed the fate of the match scoring the fourth two minutes from the final whistle.

Both the exhibition matches were organised by the Bangladesh Football Players' Wei fere Association (BFPWA) in a bid to raise funds for the distressed hooters.
