President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Yusuf Abdullah Harun yesterday suggested formation of a national forum on the environment with representatives of a cross section of people including the entrepreneurs, professionals. NGOs and environmental journalists, reports BSS.

He said the representatives of the concerned organisations, trades and professions could sit together after the budget session of the parliament to discuss the Issue of forming the proposed national forum on the environment.

He was speaking at an open discussion on "environmental policy issues, awareness and legal dimensions" organised by the Forum of Environmental Journalists of Bangladesh (FEJB) in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MOEF) Department Of Environment (DOE) and ADAB at the Engineers Institution premise in the city yesterday.

Chaired by the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Forest K M Ehsanul Haq the discussion was taken part by the chairpersons of Coalition of Environmental NGOs Khusi Kabir. Chairperson of Coastal Area Resources Development and Management, Association (CARDMA) Hasna Moudud, NEMAP formulation mission leader Dr Mahfu Haq. DOE Director Reazuddin Ahmed. FEJB Chairman Ahmed Noor-e-Alam, Vice-Chairman Gaziur Rahman. DOE Deputy Director Abdul Malek, FEJB members Shehabuddin Ahmed, Mostafa Kamal Majumder, Elahi Newaz Khan, Sharif Sahabuddin. Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan. Badiul Alam and Moinuddin Naser. Ehsan Habib from BELA, Kazi All Reza from UNDP and AKM Azad from Agricultural Extension Department.
