The ninth meeting of the Board of Investment (BOI) held at the Prime Minister's Office last night called for gearing up the activities of BOI to attract more foreign investment as well as simplifying various procedures, reports BSS.

Chaired by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Abdus Samad Azad. Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria, Commerce and Industry Minister Tofael Ahmed, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister MNooruddin Khan, State Minister for Jute and Textiles AKM Faezul Haque. State Mlnister for Planning Dr Mcfhiuddin Khan Alamglr, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain. MP. AHN Ashiqur Rahman. MP and Saber Hossain Chowdhury MP.

The meeting decided to allow the industrial units to sell the surplus energy generated by them to the nearby industrial units through their own distribution system.

The BOI was instructed to collect information about the package of facilities offered by other countries to their Special Economic Zones (SEZ).

The Prime Minister who is also chairperson of BOI directed the agencies concerned to extend their services in a coordinated manner to strengthen the activities of BOI.
