The US Peace Corps has decided to resume its programme to Bangladesh after a lapse of 33 years, reports UNB

government officials.

The objectives of the Peace Corps are to help the people of interested countries to meet their needs for trained men and women in different sectors, like health, education, rural and community development, as well as promote a better under standing between the people of the United States and people served.

"After my visit. I am very impressed by ongoing development works in Bangladesh A lot of positive development works are going on in this country ." she said, adding Peace

Corps wants to contribute to these developmental efforts.

The Peace Corps wrapped up its programme in 1964 after operating in the erstwhile Pakistan for three years

Replying to a question. Ms Corey said the Peace Corps undertakes its programme only in the countries which show interests. She said several months ago. they had got invitation from the Bangladesh government to resume its programme here
