The Awami League. Central Working Committee (ALCWC) would have to nominate coun cillors from party units in some 20 districts for the party's May 6-7 national council, party sources said.

Full-fledged executive committees of those units could not be formed or their councils could not be held.

New executive committees of 27 district units were approved by the ALCWC last night while 22 others got approval on Thursday last. For the remaining district units. ALCWC would have to nominate councillors for representing those units in the national council.

The ALCWC meeting, adjourned earlier on Thursday night, resumed at 7 pm last night at the Ganabhaban with

party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair The meeting was again adjourned at 10 pm.

There are ad hoc party committees in Magura, Kushtia. Cox’s Bazar and Pirojpur — where councils were not held. For other district units, where full-fledged committee could not be formed due to disputes, councillors would be nominated by the ALCWC on the basis of the number' of people of those districts.

Besides, a party tribunal headed by AL presidium member Qamruzzaman. is taking up cases of disputes in various district units one by one before the ALCWC takes a final decisions

The size of the 65-member ALCWC is likely to remain unchanged while the number of Joint secretaries would Increase from two to three, said meeting
