MOULVIBAZAR. May 4; The Assistant Judge of Moulvibazar has imposed an interim injunction order and issued a showcause order on two journalists of the district headquarters on April 29 this year.

According to the injunction order. Syea Motiur Rahman Sani, a correspondent of Bangladesh Betar and Sarwar Ahmed, another correspondent of the Banglabazar Patrika will refrain from all activities in the name of Moulvibazar Press Club and its committee for an interim period. The court also directed them to showcause before the court within seven days as to why they would not refrain from all activities in the name of the aforementioned press club permanently. I it

M A Salam, newly elected ■ Secretary of Moulvibazar Pr^ss Club submitted a petition before the court seeking an injunction order on i«* journalists. In his pMthin to the court, the secretary of the press club mentioned that Journalists Motiur Rahman Sani and Sarwar Ahmed both working In the district headquarters recently made a publicity through the press that they have formed another executive committee for the press club. Such act of two journalists was specific violation of laws and by-laws of the existing constitution of the press club.

After hearing on the petition the Assistant Judge issued the abovementioned orders.

It may be mentioned here. Moulvibazar Press Club is a registered organisation under the Society Act'. The executive committee of the press club was elected unopposed with Rod-hlka Mohon Goswami and MA Salam as president and secretary respectively and later it

was approved in the Annual General Meeting which was held on April 19.

But on the same day of the Annual General Meeting, four general members of the press club formed another committee of the club with Syed Motiur Rahman Sani and Sarwar Ahmed as president and secretary respectively.

It is also alleged that during formation of this committee led by Motiur and Sarwar, the constitutional rules were not followed. They Included the major portion of office-bearers who have no primary membership of the press club. They formed* the committee without declara-tidn of election schedule under the existing constitution of the press club. According to their publicity through press, they have‘also lockea out the gate of the press club building.
