The CID police unearthed a factory producing spurious medicines at Shabujbagh in the city Saturday, police said last night.

Besides, the CID team arrested four persons and recovered a large quantity of spurious medicines of various brands popular in the country. The police also seized the raw materials used in making spurious drugs.

The arrested were identified as Babul Mlah. Shamsuzza-man. Abdul Majid and Abdus Salam.

Police suspect they are the members of an international gang involved In manufacturing and selling spurious drugs

in the country.

The CID personnel first raided the Mitford area, the biggest medicine market in the city, and arrested Babul Miah with spurious medicines.

Following his confession the CID team held Shamsuzzaman. reportedly a marketing associate of an insurance company. After interrogating the two. the CID police unearthed the factory in Ahmedbagh area under Shabujbagh thana late Saturday night and arrested the two others, police sources said.

Cases have been filed with Kotwali and Shabujbagh thana in this connection.
