KUALA LUMPUR, Apr 3: Three Saudi Arabia national soccer players who were tested positive for drugs at the Asian Cup in December, have been let off due to discrepancies in doping procedure, officials said today. reports AFP.

"FIFA has investigated the case and found it is not possible to take any disciplinary action or ban the players." Asian football supremo Peter Velappan was quoted by the national Bernama news agency as saying

He said there were some discrepancies in the execution of the doping control and the findings were invalid.

Velappan. who is the general-secretary of the Kuala Lumpur-based Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said, after the dope result proved positive, the Saudi Arabia FA denied the possibility of its players being on drtigs and requested fox' an investigation.

Saudi Arabia beat United Arab Emirates 4-2 on penalty kicks to win the title held in UAE.

Velappan said the AFC then requested FIFA to form an independent investigative panel.
