The government has formed a nine-member task force to enquire into the alleged corruption and irregularities in the eight education boards, sources at the Education Ministry said yesterday.

The task force has been asked to submit its report by June 30 with recommendations as to how the boards could be run with efficiency and transparency.

The task force was formed following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to the Ministry of Education on March 30 when she ordered an investigation into the affairs of all the boards of education.

tn addition to the five education boards, the task force will also probe into the irregularities in the Technical Education Board. Madrassa Board, and the National Curriculum and Textbook Board.

The members of the task force are: Dr Nazrul Islam. Prof M Mostapha Chowdhury.- Dr Osman All. Dr Shahidul Islam. A A M S Arifin Siddique. Prof Shamsuddin Ahmed, Kazi Faruque Ahmed. Md Mohiuddin and a Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Education.
