One person identified as Hasan Morshed Apu, 23. was arrested yesterday following the killing of two young men inside an office of Public Works Department (PWD) in the city Wednesday.

Tejgaon police held Apu during a raid in West Agargaon area early in the morning. Later, he was taken to the Detec tive Branch (DB) police for interrogation. said police.

An unidentified gang gunned down two young men — Sohrab Hossain alias Shamim. 32. and Khaled Hossain alias Mamun. 22. — inside the office room of a sub-divisional engineer at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at about 12:30 pm Wednesday. Both the victims were working for contractors, according to police.

Meanwhile, police were yet to find out the motive behind the killing. Police last night said two other persons were aftfo present riming Ae shoots ing in the office room of the en-

gineer. Police interrogated one of them who resided with Shamim.

Besides, police have identified the people involved in the killing, said a senior police official adding all of them were in hiding.

Mamun's uncle Gazi Obaidur Rahman Nanna, reportedly a PWD enlisted contractor, filed a case with Tejgaon thana in connection with the killing. He. however, did not name anyone as accused in the case, police said earlier.
