Elections to the executive committee of the Jahangirna-gar University Teachers' Association (JUTA). for the year 1997 will be held tomorrow.

Voting will take place at the JU Teachers' Club from 9 am to 1 pm. The elections will be conducted by Prof Kazi Ali Azam as the election commissioner. At least 265 teachers of the university will cast their votes in the polls.

A total of 22 candidates from two panels of teachers are contesting for the 11 posts in the JUTA executive committee. The teachers' group opposing the panel backed by the VC has nominated Dr Sharif Enamul Kabir (president). Dr Zahedud-dln Mahmud Khan (vice president). Dr Amir Hossain (secretary). Khaled Hossain (joint secretary) and Sazed Ashraf Karim (Treasurer). Nominees for executive committee members are Prof Enamul Haq Khan. Dr Nasir Uddin. Abdullah Al Mamun. Anirud-dha Kahali. Minhaz Uddin

Mahmud and Mehernigar Kabita.

The other group jointly led by the JU VC Prof Amirul Islam Chowdhury and pro-VC Prof Alauddin Ahmed has nominated Prof Anwarul Haq Sharif (president) and Dr M A Matin (secretary). Other contestants are Prof Nazma Siddiqui (Vice president). Prof AFM Ubaidur Rahman (Treasurer), and Dr Mozammel Haq (Joint Secretary). Candidates for the posts of six members are : Dr Abdul Ghani. Dr U H M Shamsunna-har. Dr Abdul Awal, Dr Tazul Islam. Dr Farhad Hossain and Dr Subhas Chandra Das.
