” ‘ A brilliant all-round performance by Pakistani Nasir Ali Khan steered Dhanmondi Club to two-wicket victory over Dhaka Wanderers Club in one of the two First Division Super league cricket matches played yesterday at the City Club ground.

Chasing a manageable Wanderers' total in 45 overs, right handed Nasir, who earlier helped his side in restricting their opponents to 163 taking three wickets for only eleven runs, hammered a brilliant 62 to enable his side reach the summit in the 44th over with two wickets to spare.

Earlier, opting to bat first. Wanderers could manage the meagre total before being bowled out in 43 overs with middle order bat Sizen scoring highest 30 followed by Tapan who added 23 runs.

With yesterday's win. Dhanmondi raised their tally to 16 points from 12 matches and Joined Ajax Sporting Club on top of the six-team super league table. On the other hand. Wanderers remained glued to their previous collections of 12 points from as many matches.

In the other match of the day. Azad Sporting Club defeated Gopibagh Friends' Association by 40 runs on the eastern strip of Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.

Batting first. Azad piled up 220 in 43.2 overs with one down Shahnewaz adding highest 57.

In reply, the Gopibagh boys succumbed in 42.3 overs with the scoreboard reading 180.
