BAGHDAD Feb 1: Iraq today denied reports that it was massing troops in the south close to its border with Kuwait' reports Reuter.

INA said the military source was responding to statements by Kuwait, which Iraq invaded in 1990 an a US led multinational force liberated in 1991. saying that Baghdad was massing troops In the south.

"There are not any unusual reinforcements or movements at all or any change in the general plans adopted for dally training of our armed forces throughout Iraq, especially In the south. INA quoted the source as saying.

Kuwait’s Information Minister Sheikh Saud Nasser Al Sabah was quoted by Kuwaiti newspapers today as saying Iraq had between 150.000 to 180,000 troops deployed some 50 km (30 miles) noth of Kuwait.
