Colourful programmes launched by more socio-cultural organisations marking the Silver Jubilee of Victory Day added to the festive atmosphere in the city yesterday.

The Sammilito Sangskritik Jote started its week-long cultural functions in six stages In the university area and at the Central Shaheed Minar

At the Central Shaheed Minar. group songs were rendered by Kranti. Madhabllata and Uaicht and tribal dance was performed bv Dokua. Songs were rendered by Suman Mojumdar. Abtda Sultana. Masudduzzaman Babu. Mill Afroz and Lill Islam. Kamal Lohani recalled the memories of 1971 in the reminiscence session.

In the Munir Chowdhury Monch at the Doel Chhatar. dramas were staged by Rajdhanl Theatre Sanglap Group Theatre, and Dhaka Theatre

From the Zahir Raihan Monch. two films "Abar Tora Manush Ha and "Sareng Bou' were screened.

In the Jalnul Abedin Monch the TSC crossing. 'bouT

songs were rendered by Shefali Ghosh, Sham Sunder Baishnab. Babul Baul. Motaleb Dewan. Amena Akter. Slraj Boyati. Baul Mostafa Kamal. Arju All Boyati and Mohammad Nazim Sarker.

In the Jahanara Imam Monch at the Shahbag crossing, artistes of different cultural groups recited poems while a book fair was opened at 4 pm at the Shahidullan Kaiser Monch. A cottage Industry fair was also opened in front of the Bangla Academy

A reminiscence meeting was held at the Muktljoddha Monch yesterday afternoon. Organised by Muktljoddha Sangsad Kendrio Command Council, the meeting was addressed by State Minister for Information Abu Sayed, general secretary of Bangladesh Workers Party Rashed Khan Menon. Abu Sayeed In his speech

emphasised the need to depict the true history of the Liberation War. He urged all concerned to come forward to build up the Sonar Bangla' as dreamt by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Ranman. A cultural function followed the reminiscence meeting.

On the second day of the week-long victory day pro-Eammes of Bangla Academy, ibindra songs were rendered by renowned singers of the country.

Another reminiscence meeting was held at the Children's auditorium of the National Museum. Presided over by Prof Mostafa Nurul Islam, the meeting was addressed by Home Minister Rafiqul Islam BU and Mahbub Uddin Ahmed.

The Joy Bangla Sangskritik Oikya Jote organised at the Ramna Batamul a discussion meeting on The role of students. teachers, politicians, service holders, and cultural activists in the Liberation War of Bangladesh."

Presided over by Prof Kabir Chowdhury, the meeting was

addressed among others by Dr MA Wazed Mia. Sayed Hasan Imam, Salauddin Badal. Sheikh Abdul Kader and Osman Gani.

Muktljoddher Chetana Monch organised a discussion meeting at the Doel Chhatar tn front of the Curzon Hall of Dhaka University.

The Dhaka University authorities have drawn up a three

day programme In celebration of the silver Jubilee of the Victory Day. The programme was announced by the Vice Chancellor at a presa conference held at the Senate room of the university

The programmes includes placing wreaths, discussion meetings, serving Improved diet and special prayers for the mai tyr*.

On 14 December the VC will

place a wreath at the martyrs Intellectual graveyard at Mtrpur. He will also place wreaths at the Jatlya Smrttl Soudha at Savar on behalf of the teachers, students, officials and emnlovee*
