The Religious Affairs Min-l-Hlry Saturday termed the allegations levelled by some poltti cal parties and groups on the government centring the arrest warrant on the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram Mosque as 'motivated’ and provocative , reports BSS

In a clarification, the Mln Istry said the Issue Is com pletely personal one and Is un der tiie |urlsdlction ol court

It said Khatib Obaldu) Haq delivered a speech at a public meeting al Manik Mia Avenue in 1994 expressing his Indigna lion atxrut the breaking away of Pakistan in view ol his speech Jatiya Samaltantrlk Dai (JSD Inu) leader Abdullah HU Qayum filed a case with Dhaka ( MM Court during the past govern ment In 1994.

The Ministry said the court recently summoned the Khatib to appear before It for the set tlement ol the case. As the Khatib did not appear on the scheduled date, the court issued him a warrant of arrest accord ing to Code ot Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

As the issue is completely personal and under the Jurisdiction of the court, therefore, allegations of some political parties and a section of the press blaming tije government in this regard Is not based on facts but motivated and provocative. the Ministry sain.

It also urged the people not to be misled through such allegations and-statemeut^
