Former Justice Abdul QucL dus Chowdhury yesterday denied his involvement in drafting the black Indemnity Ordinance, reports UNB.

Referring to a UNB news which was creeded quoting officials of Law Ministry and CID. he said: It is true that I was a Deputy Secretary of the Law Ministry in 1975. But I did not draft the ordinance to the best of my knowledge.

In a statement Justice Chowcjhury said he was Deputy . xretary till 1980 but he was not made Judge or appointed Secretary as a reward for preparing the draft of the Ordinance.

He was appointed Judge of the High Court Division in 1983 and later Secretary the same year.

The retired Judge said it Is nothing but a fictitious story that he was pleased to make the draft of the Ordinance.

Reminding the procedure of making draft of law. he said invitation was not made in the Law Ministry to make draft of any law. It is higher official who instructs who will make the draft of which law.

Indeed, he said the subordinate officer is bound to carry out the order of his senior officer. As a responsible officer he has no choice but to performing his duty. There is also no scope of disobeying the assigned job by the subordinate officer. He does not have also any consideration to see the contents, alms and objective of the proposed law.
