The government yesterday re-constituted the Fifth Wage Board with Justice Anwarul Haque Chowdhury as chairman to recommend salaries, allowances and other benefits for the Journalists, press workers and general employees of newspapers and news agencies, an official handout said, reports BSS.

The representatives of the employees include Abul Kalam Azad, senior Sub-Editor of the Daily Ittefaq. Zahirul Haq. Chief Reporter of Dainik Bangla. Fazle Imam. Senior Vice-President and Bazlur Rahman Milan. Secretary General of the Bangladesh Sang-badpatra Press Sramik Federation, Kamruzzaman Khan. President and Mahtabuddin Khan. General Secretary of Bangladesh Sangbadpatra Karmachari Federation.

The re-constituted Fifth Wage Board will put forward recommendations for salaries, allowances and other benefits for the newsmen, press workers and general employees of newspapers and news agencies as per rule. While making recommendations the Board will consider the cost of living, financial facilities for government, semigovernment and private organisations for similar jobs and prevailing condition of the newspapers and news agencies in different parts of the country. The Board may also recommend financial benefits for "time work” and 'piece work'.

The re-constituted Wage Board will submit its final report to the government within next six months, the handout said.
