MOULVI BA.ZAR. Oct 9: F our persons were awarded life L-erm and five others were giver, 10 years rigorous imprisoniment (RI) in two separate case s recently.

According to reportfj, two people were sentenced to, suffer life imprisonment and fl ve others to suffer ten years RI in a da-coity case. The court a) .so fined all of them Talka 10 t housand each, in default to stiff er 2 years more RI each.

The Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdu I Gafur announced the jutlgme nt recently. Those who were a-warded life term imprison men ,t. tried in absentia were: Me.shuk Miah and Ataur Rahm an. Sajjad. Surman All, Akmrd All. Akber All. and Asgar ,MI t vere awarded 10 years RI.

The prosec :uti .on story In brief is that on Ju ne 18. 1993 a dacoity was com mltted at the house of one Hafiz Abdul Hamid of village East G ualbari under Baralekha thana of the district. The dacoits hoc ted valuables including cash n .toney and gold ornaments from the house.

House-master Hafiz Abdul Hamid lodged a dacoity case against 10 people with Baralekha thana , and the police subsequently s ubmitted chargesheets against all the 10 accused.

After examining witnesses and records, the learned Additional Judge awarded the aforesaid punishment.

In an another judgement, the Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Gafur Sentenced two persons to suffer life-imprisonment on charge of murder and fined them Taka five thousand each in default to suffer one month more imprisonment each. The learned judged delivered the judgement recently.

The prosecution story of this case was that, one Snafique Miah of village Tajpur under Blanee bazar thana of Sylhet district was living in a rented house at Raghunandan Pur area of Moulvibazar town. At Early hours of 30 August. 1987. a Sup of criminals shot him d at his rented house.

Piara Begum, wife of the victim Shafique Miah filed a murder case with Moulvibazar thana against 3 persons namely Mohammed Ah. alias Waris All. Shaheed Miah and Babul Miah.

The investigation officer after investigation submitted charge-shee.t against the three accused.

The learned Additional Judge, after examining the records and witnesses, awarded the aforesaid punishment.
