JHENIDAH. Oct 9: Two members of an outlawed party were awarded rigorous imprisonment (RI) for possessing illegal arms, court sources said today. reports UNB.

Nazrul alias Raza was awarded 10 years RI with a fine of Tk 1000. Kalam alias Sohel was awarded seven years RI with a fine of Tk 500.

According to prosecution. Raza and Sohel along with six people were caught red-handed on October 18. 1993 by the people of Biddadharpur village in Moheshpur thana and they were handed over to the police with recovered fire arms including pistol and three rounds of bullets.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Aziz Khalifa awarded punishment on September 29 after examining the witnesses and records. Other six were acquitted.
