Presldenl Abdur Rahman Biswas yesterday laid emphasis on establishing more universities In the country to meet the growing need of the students and for ensuring the onward march of the nation unhindered, reports BSS

President Biswas was talk ing to a delegation of the teach ers of Islamic University, Chittagong which called on him at Bangabhaban Project director of the university Dr Mohain mad Loqman led the delegation

Stressing qualitative . and value-based education, the President who Is also the Chancellor of the University, said modern knowledge and technology have become essen Hal foi us to go along with the competitive world

He said Islamic education, which flourished in the medieval period to its height, had the combination of science and moral values

The President appreciated the efforts of the university au thorlty for bringing about a qualitative change in their cur riculum with a view to helping the students to be well ac quainted with the knowledge of modern scienc e and tec hnology along with Islamic values and norms as guiding principle of soc ial values

Biswas hoped that more people with philanthropic attitude would come forward for estab lishing higher educational in stitutions in the country with a view to ensuring a bright future lor the nation
