The residential halls of the Dhaka University were made free of terrorists' and bonafide students were rehabilitated there' yesterday as per the peace agreement" signed among the major student organisation on Thursday, according to hall authorities.

Classes at the university will resume today after a 20-day unscheduled closure following a series of clashes between the BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) and pro Awaml League Chhatra League (BCD

The residents of the 14 halls including three for women were brought out of the dormitories by 9 am and were allowed to return after their Identity cards were verified by the hall authorities.

The process completed in a peaceful manner, barring two minor incidents in F Rahman hall and Mohsin hall. In F Rahman Hall JCD activists were threatened allegedly by the activists of BCL and left the hall. They were, however, reha-

bilitated when acting Vice Chancellor Shahicfuddin Ahmed visited the spot.

In Mohsin Hall, the students were taken out twice as BCL alleged that outsiders entered the hall. Tension was prevailing in the hall. The university authorities requested the presidents of both JCD and BCL to stay in the hall last night.

Police, meanwhile, raided Shamsunnahar Hall of the university but could not recover anything, hall sources said.

Some sources alleged that outsiders belonging to BCL Gopalganj faction did not leave Shahidullah Hall and activists of JCD were not allowed to enter Fazlul Haq Hall and Shahidullah Hall.

The acting VC, at a follow up meeting with the student leaders yesterday, urged those concerned to vacate the halls and said the authorities would tiy to solve the problems within seven days.

In Salimullah Hall BCL activists did not vacate the 'occufled seats' of JCD activists, hey, however, agreed to vacate the seats today, sources in the student bodies said.

Meanwhile, some students who failed to collect their identity cards because of various reasons could not enter the halls.

There are allegations that some outsiders had boarder cards' for availing hall facill ties.

Acting VC Prof Shahiduddin Ahmed and Proctor Dr Nu-runnabl visited the residential halls during the rehabilitation' process.
