NEW HAVEN. Connecticut. Aug 7: Fifth-ranked Australian Open champion Boris Becker was forced to withdraw from next week's New Haven tournament due to the wrist injury he suffered at Wimbledon last month tournament officials announced on Tuesday, reports Reuter.

Becker's doctors advised him that his wrist was not sufficiently healed to compete at a top level, event, officials said in a statement.

The German star is the only top-10 player missing from this weeks ATP Championship near Cincinnati and his inability to compete next week could severely hamper his hard court preparation for the US Open.
