The candidates and supporters have started door to door campaign with their supporters to persuade the voters in their favour, besides holding rallies and meetings.

In their election campaign. Awami League is highlighting terrorism, corruption and nepotism allegedly sponsored by the BNP regime BNP is seeking votes to implement all the uplift programmes it undertook during Its tenure in office. The party Is also highlighting alleged misrule of AL In post-independehse period The Jatiya Party Is emphasis-

ing on release of Former President H.M^ Ershad and re-introductlon of Upazila System' while the Jamaat-e-lslaml is pledging to introduce the Quranic lows.

There are three constituencies in Lalmonirhat district. In 1991 Parliamentary election. Jatiya Party captured all the seats defeating the AL candidates in all the three seats.

Lalmonirhat-1 constituency comprises Patgram and Hatibandha thanas. Zoynul Abedin Sarker of Jatiya Party Who won in 1991 election is a strong candidate this time. He will face lough contest from the Awami League nominee Motahai Hossain ex-Upazila Chairman ol Hatibandha thana.

The other contestants in this seat are: Yunus Ali (Jamaat). Hakanuzzaman (BNP). Nuruzzaman (Zaker Party). Moslem Uddin Murad (NDP). and Prof-Shahlddullah Prodhan (Independent).

Lalmonirhat-2 constituency Is consisted of KaligonJ and Adltmari thana. Majibur Rah man of Jatiya Party who won in 1991 election Is a strong candidate from J P again this time A tough contest between JP nominee Majibur Rahman and AL nominee Muruzzaman Ahmed is expected In this seal

The other contestant in this seat are: Abdul Mannan Sarker (BNP). Smamsul Haque (Jamaat). Rezaul Karim Manik (Zaker Party). Emadul Haque (Gono-Forum) and Bazlur Rahman (Independent).

In Lalmonirhat -3 Constituency comprising Sadar thana. Rezuddin Ahmed (Bhola Mia) of Jaliva Party won 1991 election defeating AL nominee Abul Hossain by a huge margin in 1991. This (ime both of them were not nominated by the respective pasties. Two new faces of both JP and AL are now in the fray.

The Jatiya Party has nominated Golam Mohammad Kader while AL has put Abu Saleh Sayeed (Dulal) And BNP nominee is principal Asadul Habib Dulu. A triangular fight among Jatiya Party. AL and BNP candidates is expected in this seat.

The other candidates are: Mosharaf Hossain Khondoker (Jamaal). Dr Ansar All (Zaker Party), Golam Rabbani (Gono Forum) and Abdullah (Independent).
