GOPALGANJ. June 5 : Law enforcing agencies have failed to recover adequate quantity of illegal arms and ammunition from the areas of five thanas in Gopalganj district.

According to the police sources. 22 firearms and 62 round bullets were recovered from the five thanas in Gopalganj district. Only 10 firearms and 27 round bullets were recovered from the area of Gopalganj Sadar thana. Only 2 firearms and 3 round bullets from Kotwalipara thana area. 5 firearms and 11 round bullets from Muksudpur thana area. 2 pipe guns. 22 bombs and 17 round bullets from Kasiani thana area and 3 firearms and 4 round bullets from Tungipara thana area were recovered till writing this report.

The police sources also confirmed that 562 people were arrested in connection with the arms recovery drive

AMM Fakrul Islam Khan Police Super of Gopalganj. was asked whether adequate quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered, he said, it was not satisfactory at all But he assured firmly that any attempt to create dist urbances in the Parliamentary Election on June 12 would seriously be dealt with.
