CHUADANGA. June 5: With only a week left for the parliamentary election, campaigning in the district has gained a new momentum.

The blaring of mikes, postering and house to house visit by the candidates and their supporters for seeking votes in favour of them have taken an impressive situation in the district. Huge number of posters have been pasted on the walls of the residences in the rural and town areas.

In the two constituencies of Chuadanga district, great enthusiasm were seen among the common people and the voters for the ensuing Jatiya Sangsad election.

This correspondent visited a number of villages and talked to a cross-section of electors. Without naming their favourite candidates, most of

them said a* triangular fight will take place in both the constituencies.

They said that the .elecUon fight for Chuadanga-1 seat will be held between Awami League. BNP grid Jatiya Party while the election tight for Chuadanga-2 seat will be between Jamaat. Awa ini League and BNP.

A total of 18 candidates are contesting for two JS seats of Chuadanga district of which 11 are contesting for seat No 1 and 7 are contesting for seat No 2. In Chuadanga-1, the candidates are M Sanwar Hossain (Independent). Dr Nurur Rahman (Khelafat Andolan). Bazlul Huda (Freedom Party). Maulana Eunush Ali (Islamic Oikya Front). Saiful Islam Pinu (Jatiya Party), Md Abdul Khaloque (Jamaat), Md Touhid

Hossain (JSD-Rab). Md Nazrul Islam (Independent), Md Mok-lesur Rahman (Worker's Party). Solaiman Hoque Joarder (Aw-ami League) and Md Shgm-suzzaman Dudu (BNP). Total number of voters in this constituency is 2.55.036 of which 1.26.345 are female.

In 1991. Mia Mohammad Monsur AH of BNP won this seat by defeating the ’Awami League candidate Solaiman Hoque Joarder. Monsur Ali got 58.000 votes while Solaiman bagged 55.000 votes.

There will be a hard contest in this seat this-year in between AL, BNP and JP.

On the other hand, seven candidates are contesting for Chuadanga-2 seat. They are Amir Hussain (Jaker Party). Mirza " Sultan Raja (Awami League). Md Abdul Mannan (I0J). Mohammad Nabi Choud-

hury (Independent), Maulana Habibur Rahman (Jamaat). Md Mozammel Hoque (BNP) and Habibur Rahman Hobi (Jatiya Party).

In 1991. Maulana Habibur Rahman of Jamaat was elected MP from this seat by defeating BNP candidate Mozammel Hoque by a margin of about 3,000 votes. This year both the candidates are also contesting for the seal. Mirja Sultan Raja of Awami League is also a strong candidate. Yet this year. Awami League is progressing much. The election fight in this seat will also be triangular.

The total number of voters in Chuadanga-2 constituency is 2,27.658 of which 1.13,047 are female.
