BARCELONA May 4 The International Olympic Committee and the city of Barcelona agreed Friday to unify efforts to rebuild Sarajevo s Olympic sta dium reports AP

IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch and Barcelona Mayor Pasqual Maragall agreed to raise the 15 million dollars needed to rebuild Sarajevo's Zetrs Olympic Stadium site of the 1984 Winter Olympics closing ceremony

According to the agreement signed in IOC headquarters in Lausanne. Switzerland. Barcelona Is responsible for securing 5 million dollars through European Union assis tance and other sponsor*

The IOC had previously pledged 10 million dollars to rebuild the main covered sta ilium of Sarajevo

"I am committed to helping Sarajevo because Europe Is at risk in that city, a place cultures meet." Maragall said If Europe doean't work In Sara jevo. it won t work anywhere.

Representative* from IOC and Barcelona will oversee protect development
