LISBON. May 4: The Portuguese squad are not afraid of the Danes, Croats and Turks they will meet in June's European soccer championship, but they are taking no chances with Britain's beef, reports Reuter. ‘

Portuguese farmers signed a protocol with the country's soccer federation on Friday, agreeing to send a tonne of Portuguese meat to England for their players consumption.

Like other European Union countries Portugal has banned British beef because of fears about the spread of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) or mad cow disease.

The Portuguese squad leaves for Dublin at the end of this month for their final warm-up match against the Republic of Ireland.
